Flooring FAQ
HOW IS THE WASTE FACTOR CALCULATED?
The estimator applies a percentage (5%, 10%, or 15%) to the total measured floor area. This accounts for cutting planks or tiles to fit room perimeters, pattern matching, and accidental damage during installation.
WHEN SHOULD I ORDER EXTRA MATERIAL?
We recommend ordering 10% more for standard layouts and 15% more for diagonal patterns or complex room shapes. Always rounding up to the nearest full box ensures you have enough material from the same dye lot or production run.
SUPPORTED FLOORING TYPES?
The estimator handles common materials including Hardwood, Laminate, Vinyl Plank (LVP), Ceramic/Porcelain Tile, and Carpet. Results provide area coverage and typical carton requirements for planning.
ARE RESULTS FINAL FOR PURCHASING?
These calculations are for estimation purposes only. Always verify exact measurements on-site before ordering. We recommend consulting with your flooring supplier or professional installer to confirm precise carton quantities and trim requirements.
